Objectives

In this topic, we understand the history of animation as a visual deception and how through effects we can produce movements that tell stories.

The main objectives of this topic are described in the following video:

The following table shows all the materials preprared for the teacher to learn (T2L) and for the teacher to take them to the classroom (T2T,S2P) for Lesson 1 of Topic 1. History and legacy of animation. The description of the different types of materials  (T2L, T2T, S2P) can be found here. For each material, teachers can find in this table: its description , the student workload and where the student works. Additionally, recommendations about what to do in the classroom are included (remember that one lesson corresponds to one class of the teacher with her/his students).  Follow the links in the table to discover what O-City has prepared for you:

T2T Activity T1:L1.1 The teacher explains how animation is a different representation of reality. How this is part of each of the students and what are the types of stories to tell and types of animation.(video, video content in pdf, activity factsheet in pdf) The teacher explains animation physically and narratively. 30´  At home/classroom.
Activity T1.L1.2 Visual effect with paper.(video,  video content in pdf, activity factsheet in pdf Make a flip book on sheets of paper to try to understand the effect it causes on the eyes. 2 h  At home/classroom.
S2P Extra activity T1.L1.1 Understand identification through animation.(activity factsheet in pdf) Choose an animated piece that is important to each one and discuss it. 1 h  At home/classroom.

T2T Activity T1:L3. Observe three short films, one national, one local and one international to analyze their differences. (video, video content in pdf, activity factsheet in pdf) Analyze the differences of each of these to make a conclusion. 1 h At home/classroom.
Activity T1.L3.2 Draw a character, background, or historical or social moment in the region on which an animation could be created. Try to represent a significant place or character in an animated style by analyzing its movements. (video, video content in pdf, activity factsheet in pdf) Reference reality in order to animate. 2 h At home/classroom.
S2P Extra activity T1.L3.1 Investigate which short films or animated films have to do with local interests to analyze untold stories. (activity factsheet in pdf) Thematic analysis of local modern animation. 4 h At home/classroom.
