Sound recording in situ, tips to eliminate outside noise

This module has been prepared to train users on issues related to sound and script. So, it will be useful for those who wish to learn how to write a script and what is the relevant information that must be transmitted at the time of spreading a heritage reality through a multimedia element. On the other hand, audio recording knowledge must be incorporated to be able to record it and know how to combine it with music, that accompanies and highlights the values of the cultural or natural good.

Once the module is completed and approved, learners will be able to:

  1. Write a script that summarizes all the values assigned to the heritage reality.
  2. Select the music that best accompanies the script developed.
  3. Learn the elementary concepts about sound recording, to be able to make multimedia content with a quality consistent with the cultural or natural good that we wish to expose.

In this session, we will learn how we should record the external sound with the best possible quality for the final audiovisual content.

3 Recommendations before you start

  1. Before recording, think about what you want to tell and in what way.
  2. While we record, try not to be too loud around you.
  3. After recording, edit the audio using the software we recommend.

1-Before recording

First of all, remember the script you wrote. It is important to read short sentences, to avoid mistakes and make it easier to edit the recording later.

INSPIRE
EXPIRE
BREATHE

Controlling the breath will prevent annoying noises from appearing in the recording that then we must remove with editing.

2-While we record

When recording outdoors, we face a series of challenges that simply don't exist indoors or are minimal. Wind, in all its forms, can be very damaging to sound recording. However, there are many ways to reduce wind noise when recording outdoors.

There are many different ways to attenuate annoying wind noise when recording outdoors. Everything will depend on your position and the type of equipment you use.

  • THINK ABOUT PLACEMENT
  • HIDE THE MICROPHONE
  • USE PHYSICAL WIND PROTECTOR FOR THE MICROPHONE
  • EQUALIZE DURING POST PRODUCTION

3-After recording

What are the best tools to record voice and edit on mobile?

  • Voice Record Pro
  • QuickVoice
  • Audacity

Conclusions

If we manage to record the audio correctly in the field trip, we will get a high quality final audiovisual product that manages to transmit the concepts incorporated in the script.
